Starbase Kelly Summer Camp

Fifth Grade Parents/Guardians,

This past May, the fifth grade students were scheduled to attend Starbase Kelly, a week long STEM field trip at Lackland Air Force Base. The week ended with students launching a self-made rocket that put into practice skills learned throughout the week.  Unfortunately, the circumstances surrounding COVID-19 prevented our students from attending.

I have coordinated with Starbase Kelly to provide a summer experience for our interested students! The week long experience will take place July 6-10, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Students must arrive at Lackland AFB by 9:00 a.m. each morning and be picked up by 2:00 p.m. Students must bring a daily snack, lunch and drink.  It is my understanding that face shields will be provided by Starbase Kelly. I will provide more information on the dress code as we approach the end of June.

Unfortunately, social distancing guidelines will limit student participation to 16 students.  Furthermore, parents or guardians will be unable to stay during the day.  Mr. Carrillo, our Middle School Science Teacher, will be the school chaperone during the field trip.  He has accompanied our students in previous years and is aware of the expectations.

Although Starbase Kelly will work with air force security to issue passes allowing vehicles to enter secured areas for drop off and pickup, parents are highly encouraged to carpool.

Those interested in attending are asked to complete the following form below.  In the event more than 16 students show interest, I will begin with registered students for the 2020/2021 school year and the order of registrations.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at (210) 824-3381 or michael.fierro@blessedschool.com should you have any questions regarding the program. The School Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. throughout June.

In service to the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament,

Michael Fierro

Principal
