This year, the Department of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of San Antonio has made the decision to transition away from the Iowa Assessment (IA) and Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT).  Catholic schools, including Blessed Sacrament, will administer NWEA MAP Growth.  This computer-adaptive test measures growth, regardless of grade level, to plan a trajectory of achievement for every learner.  It is also more closely tied to our standards and benchmarks.

As you may recall, Blessed Sacrament participated in a NWEA MAP Growth pilot program last spring.  This provided our teachers with an opportunity to explore the program and provided them with two testing cycles of student data.

Blessed Sacrament Catholic School will be hosting an informational session and initial MAP Goal Setting meeting on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. for students in Fourth Grade through Eighth Grade.  Since individual student information will need to be prepared ahead of time, we kindly ask that you reserve a seat for you and your student(s).  You may register using our NWEA Parent and Student Workshop e-registration link.  Parent attendance may be used towards the required 2019/2020 Parent Service Hour Requirement.  Additionally, students attending may come in a BSS Spirit Shirt and blue jeans, blue jean shorts, walking shorts or Capri’s and tennis shoes on Wednesday, August 28, 2019.
