The University of the Incarnate Word’s Ettling Center for Civic Leadership & Sustainability is hosting an Immigration & Refugee Awareness Art Contest for February of 2021 . The contest is based on Catholic Social Teachings and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on migration issues. Participants may submit their “art project” utilizing one of the following mediums:

  • Photography,
  • Art mural,
  • Video (40-60 seconds), and/or
  • Poetry

Projects are due by 3 p.m. (CST) on Friday, February 26, 2021. Please email final submission to: ccl@uiwtx.edu.

 Recognitions and Awards

Winners will be selected via the following group categories and earn a monetary prize:

  • 2020-2021 One-Time Grant Funding:
  • Collegiate (undergraduate)

o   1st Prize $250

  • High School (9th-12th grades)

o   1st Prize $150

  • Middle School (6th-8th grades)

o   1st Prize $100

  • Elementary School (K-5th grades)

o   1st Prize $100

  • all 2nd and 3rd prize winners will be highlighted on the Ettling Center’s website.

Participant Notice

All participants who submit and participate in this art contest authorize UIW, the Ettling Center and ministries of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word to utilize the “art” project in marketing, publications, advertisements, and other communication mediums including social media to bring awareness to the global issue of migrants, immigrants, and refugees.
