Friends of Blessed Sacrament,

On behalf of our parish school community, I would like to extend my sincerest appreciation for supporting our 2019 Día de los Bulldogs. This annual fundraiser allows us to provide quality education and formation for our students rooted in the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church.

In a few short days, Americans will pause and give thanks as we celebrate Thanksgiving Day.  One day a year, our nation dedicates a holiday for us to give thanks for the many blessings bestowed upon us.  We will gather around spectacular meals and offer a prayer of thanksgiving, remembering the stories of the past, and treasuring the love of family and friends.  Dishes will be cleaned, leftovers enjoyed, and our minds begin shifting towards the marvelous Black Friday deals.  Within hours, the prayer of thanksgiving is often forgotten.

As Catholics, however, Jesus has provided a daily thanksgiving celebration – the Eucharist.  It is a daily encounter with Christ allowing us to give thanks for the many blessings bestowed upon us.  Unlike the thanksgiving meal leftovers that occupy our refrigerator, the Body of Christ nourishes our soul and provides us with the energy to make a true difference in our world.  How blessed we are to have the opportunity for this daily thanksgiving meal!

Please know that I am truly grateful for your presence.  Your continual prayers, words of encouragement and financial support allow us to truly help introduce our children to their God.  May the Holy Family of Jesus, the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph continue to watch over your family, especially during these days of harvest and thanksgiving.

In Christ’s peace and service,

Michael Fierro
