Athletics

Dear Blessed Sacrament Families,

I hope this message finds you well and you are enjoying a restful summer. As we prepare for the upcoming 2025–2026 school year, I’m excited to share important information regarding our Athletics Program here at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School.

Sports at Blessed Sacrament are open to all students in 5th through 8th grade. Our Fall sports season will officially begin with tryouts starting on Wednesday, August 6th. We encourage all students interested in participating to attend tryouts and represent our school with pride, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Fall Sports Offered:

  • Team Sports ($75): Volleyball, Soccer, Football
  • Individual Sport ($50): Cross Country

Please note that once tryouts conclude and rosters are finalized, school family accounts will be charged through FACTS for the appropriate sport fee. This fee helps cover program expenses. This communication will be added to the website so that families can easily access it as well as to see any updated information.

Volleyball

Coach Armani McKinney will be our head coach for the 2025-2026 season. The first day of tryouts will be Wednesday, August 6th. Please bring a Solid Blue ShirtBlack Shorts, and a Water Bottle.

Practices will run from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Gym. We will practice on August 6th and 7th at these regular times. Selections for A/B team will be announced over the weekend after the August 7th practice.

While we do not anticipate any cuts, the coaching staff does reserve the right to make adjustments to the team roster if it becomes clear that a student is not yet at the level of athletic development required to safely and effectively participate in the group. Our goal is always to support every student-athlete’s growth and well-being, and any such decisions would be made thoughtfully, with the student’s best interest in mind.

There will be NO PRACTICE on August 11th due to Back to School Night.

Regular practices will be held Monday through Thursday throughout the season unless Coach McKinney mentions so ahead of time for a weekend tournament preparation. More info to follow for game schedule and details of the season soon.

I will also be working with Mr. Fierro to include practices, games, and tournaments in Spike’s News, our school’s weekly newsletter.

While these preseason practice times are before the start of school, and some families may be out of town, please communicate with the coaches. Please ALWAYS communicate with your head coach if your student athlete will be missing a training session.

Cross Country

Coach Jacob Castrejana will be our head coach for the 2025-2026 season. The first day of practice will be Monday, August 11th. Practice will be held at Blessed Sacrament Field.

For practices, all athletes will need: Black Running Shorts, Solid Blue Shirt, a Water Bottle, Running or Athletic Shoes, and Sunscreen.  While a hat and sunglasses are optional, they are encouraged with the heat expected during August.

Practices for the first week of school are as follows:

  • Monday, August 11th and Tuesday, August 12th – 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 a.m.
  • Wednesday, August 13th – No Practice
  • Thursday, August 14th – 3:30 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.
  • Friday, August 15th – No Practice

While these preseason practice times are before the start of school, and some families may be out of town, please communicate with the coaches. Please ALWAYS communicate with your head coach if your student athlete will be missing a training session.

Regular practice schedule moving forward from August 18th at Blessed Sacrament Field:

  • Mondays/Wednesdays 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 a.m.
  • Tuesdays/Thursdays 3:30 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.
  • Fridays OFF

PRACTICE TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. The main reason is that Coach Castrejana will be assisting with the football season, so depending on the outlook of that sport, we will arrange the practice schedule. We will inform you in advance if that happens.

More info to follow for the meet schedule and details of the season soon.
