Parents and Guardians,

First and foremost, I would like to extend my gratitude for an amazing three weeks of In Person and Guided Distance Learning Instruction! Although an enormous amount of time and energy went into planning our safe return to campus, the fruit of our labor has been incredible!

As part of the Academic Excellence Task Force, a recommendation has been made to solicit the assistance of parents and guardians as Parent Academic Liaisons. The primary goal of this volunteer position is to strengthen the partnership between Blessed Sacrament Catholic School and our parent community by assisting with communication between teachers and parents. Although there will be a learning curve involved, I am confident this recommendation will help us navigate the waters as we provide In Person Instruction, Guided Distance Learning and Self-Paced Learning.

The Academic Excellence Task Force has provided the following initial guidelines to assist in with the creation and formation of our parent volunteers.

  • Act as teacher support for communicating academic information;
  • Assist parents with technology understanding beyond the classroom;
  • Communicate with teacher/parent regarding school work understanding;
  • Assist parents with where to go for information that might have been missed; and
  • Assist with any of the general areas of concern (i.e.  Zoom Meeting Links, Deadlines, Login Credentials).

The Parent Academic Liaison does not take the place of communication between teachers and parents, but rather serves as an additional resource. Most importantly, the Parent Academic Liaison is a Problem Solver, not a Problem Maker.  The Parent Academic Liaison serves all parents at the grade level, not select parents and guardians.

The Eighth Grade Parent does not work with Eighth Grade Activities (i.e. Graduation, Class Trip, Homecoming) or High School Admissions.

If you are interested in serving as a 2020/2021 Parent Academic Liaison, please complete the form below.  Our Academic Excellence Chairperson, Mrs. Debra Palmer, will collect the responses and will reach out to parents and guardians directly.

May the Blessed Mother, on this her birthday, be with you in a special way.

In service to the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament,
