El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a time of celebration and remembrance. It is a time for us to celebrate the lives of our loved ones who have passed on from this life. As you know, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church traditionally sets-up a Grand Altar in the foyer of the Church as part of this celebration.
Beginning Wednesday, October 23, you are invited to bring a photo of a deceased family member that you would like displayed. We simply ask that your photos have an identifying label so that they may be safely returned. By displaying photos of our loved ones, along with a favorite item or momento, we honor their memory. The altar will remain on display through Monday, November 3, 2019.
As an added display of remembrance this year, we will ask several parish and school families to set-up their own private Día de los Muertos altar to commemorate the day. Blessed Sacrament will provide the tables for the altars. Families are asked to provide the photos and decorations. These altars will be put on display in the Parish Garden for the evening mass on Saturday, November 2, 2019 and for all masses on Sunday, November 3, 2019.
Those families wishing to participate in this event may contact the Parish Office at (210) 824-7231 or resparza@blessedsacrament.church.
