Full STEAM ahead! The Second Grade has been designing and engineering through hands on STEAM activities. STEAM, which allows the students to strengthen their 21st Century Skills such as analytical thinking, collaboration, and communication, has been a great way to bring out their creativity and love of learning.  In Science, the students have been investigating physical properties of objects or materials, and how the physical properties of these materials can be combined to perform a task they could not do on their own.  In this STEAM activity, their objective was to use straws, tape, string, and a cup to create a Bucket Tower.  Their structure had to be able to stand on its own and be strong enough to hold unit cubes inside the hanging cup.  Through much trial and error and teamwork, the students engineered some fantastic structures.  Our strongest Bucket Tower was able to hold over 50 unit cubes.  Keep up the incredible work Second Grade!
