Friends of Blessed Sacrament,

As we enter the month of February, we take the time to remember the importance of kindness in our world, in our community and our school.  A Random Acts of Kindness activist once wrote, “Kindness is the opportunity that we all have every day to improve the world.”

One does not need to pick up a newspaper, turn on the television or radio, or open a social media to understand the current unkind status of our world.  Unless something changes, our children will come to see being unkind as normal.  As the RAKTIVIST explained, we have a daily opportunity to change the worlds through our acts of kindness.  As Christians, we have been given a toolkit to assist us with this challenge – the Good News of Jesus Christ.

I would like to challenge all members of our faith community – students, parents, grandparents, teachers, and support staff members – to accept our Bulldog RAK Challenge.  We are asking everyone to perform at least one random act of kindness each day during February using our weekly challenge.

We will be introducing our Bulldog RAK Challenge to our students on Monday, February 4, 2019 at the week’s Morning Assembly.  While RAK is promoted as a secular activity, it is important for our children to know that it has been rooted in our Church tradition since Jesus’ time on earth.

I pray that our Blessed Mother, Our Lady of Light, help us be the light of kindness on our campus.  Let us be the change our world needs.  Let us be the change our children deserve!
