Locker Decorations

It has been a long tradition at Blessed Sacrament that Middle School lockers are decorated the weekend leading into Homecoming Week (Spirit Week).  The school’s Pastor, Principal, Athletic Director, and Staff do not require lockers to be decorated.  Rather, this is a tradition sustained by parents.  Additionally, funds are not used for the reimbursement of decorations.

This year’s locker decorating will take place on  Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

To assist families in planning, I would like to provide the following decorating guidelines:

  • Double-sided tape may not be used.
  • If one locker is decorated, then all lockers must be decorated.  The decor of one locker may not “outshine” another student’s locker.
  • Grade Level parents are strongly encouraged to create a template of how lockers are to be decorated to ensure they meet administrative guidelines. Students in a specific sport (i.e. cheerleading, volleyball, soccer, and football) may have up to two additional items that indicate they are a student-athlete.
  • Locker decorations may remain through the Christmas Break so long as they are up-kept.
  • Pre-Kindergarten 3 through Fifth Grade classrooms are welcome to participate as well by decorating common areas.  Parents may work with the Fifth Grade teacher to highlight Fifth Grade Student-Athletes as they are part of the Homecoming Celebration.  Homeroom teachers will decide when these classroom decorations are to be brought down.
  • Pictures of students may be used on lockers and as part of Homecoming Decorations at any grade level.

Theme Days

Evening Pep Rally

The Spirit Squad Coach will work with the Athletic Director in planning and coordinating the Evening Pep Rally.  This year’s Evening Pep Rally will take place on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 6:15 p.m.  All Blessed Sacrament families, staff members, and parishioners are invited to attend.

Friday Face Painting

Afternoon Pep Rally

The Spirit Squad Coach will work with the Athletic Director in planning and coordinating the Afternoon Pep Rally.  The pep rally should balance the recognition and encouragement of students participating in volleyball, pep squad, cheerleading, soccer, and football.  This year’s Afternoon Pep Rally will take place on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 2:30 p.m.  The pep rally should be concluded by 3:15 p.m. so that dismissal will not be interrupted. All Blessed Sacrament families are invited to attend and are asked to report directly to the School Gym.

Homecoming Football Activities

The 2023 Homecoming Football Game will take place on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. The game will be played at Antonian College Preparatory High School.

It has been the tradition that the Eighth Grade students are introduced and presented with their parents/guardians before the beginning of the game.  This includes all Eighth Grade students, not just student-athletes.  This presentation will begin promptly at 6:15 p.m.

Homecoming Dance

The Blessed Sacrament Spirit Squad will be responsible for the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  Parent Chaperones will be needed and that event can be used towards required parent service hours. All revenue from the Homecoming Dance will be given to the Spirit Squad.
